She no longer fits in the frame as a whole baby! Wow, it is crazy! Her little face was all squashed against my, well hers I guess, placenta. I felt sad for her, so squished and yet she still has so long to grow, so long to stay in there, so long to be inside away from our hands all these little hands that want to meet her! And at the same time I was jealous of her ability to just be, to just wiggle and be! I cannot imagine. Her heart is perfect, an hour of looking at it and they can find nothing wrong at all (I could have told them that!), her body is growing perfectly! Not too big, not too small. I guess this go they are worried that she might not be big enough! Odd because with both boys they were worried about being too big! Another plus…I have yet again talked them into letting me not come in every two weeks! So, I will go in every three weeks! We will skip the ultrasound that they wanted to do in two weeks and instead do it in eight! These a big huge hurdles, and I am thankful.

She is cute, wiggles like her big big brother! Makes those ultrasound techs really work for it! Still, with all that wiggling she is doing, I am not feeling her very often. I am thankful for everyday that I can go without being kicked in the ribs

I don’t even dream about what she looks like. I don’t even dream about what color her hair might be. As Cole wonders what color her eyes will be, I am not wondering, I am not thinking about it. I cannot even begin to imagine who she will be or what she will look like, how she will sleep or if she will want to snuggle all day and nurse like her brothers. I cannot bring my self to dream of her because her brothers are so different and I know in my heart that my dreams do not stand a chance! She will be different than I can even imagine, she will be more precious that my heart can even handle and she will be more perfect than my dreams could make her, so I leave it alone. I will meet her when she is ready, and for now I will savor these days while she is quite and unfazed by this chaos that she will soon be thrown into, this amazing beautiful chaos that we LOVE!

This little one is by far the easiest baby I have carried, she hasn’t made me nearly as sick as her brothers did! She doesn’t keep me from sleep as much as they did! But…there is always a but!…she did let my body know far too early that I am pregnant! She made sure to claim her space early, and who knows how she will fit as these next four months go by! She also makes me cry! Oh my gosh, she makes me tear up ALL THE TIME! I laugh at my self all day as I tear up at nothing and everything! Hahahaha, girls are crazy I tell ya.

I just don’t have much of it! Things here are good, just very very busy!!

I have a big huge ultrasound tomorrow which will rule out a multitude of disorders the little could have as well as make sure that her little heart is doing well. There are just so many things that can go wrong with all my medial issues, but so far there is no reason at all to think that there is anything wrong with her.

Henry is doing well, he seems to have lost his little limp!! Although, he will most likely need a bit of physical therapy! He had a joint injection yesterday that went very well, and hopefully will be his last!

What I have learned…

I have learned A LOT! I am a wealth of knowledge about ones ESR and other inflamation indicators. But for the most part the learning curve on a sick child is not nearly as smooth as i would like it! Here is my run down:

1: if you are going to be admitted to the hospital…hope and pray that your have a good sleeper! Oh goodness, I feel for those who’s children need a quiet dark place to sleep. And at the same time I am thankful that Henry does not!

2: Needing to take medication every six hours on the dot is much much easier to keep track of when you set alarms! Thank you iphone for letting me set multiple alarms! Every six hours that thing goes off and I am reminded to tend to him

3: Medication that needs to be given at 1:30am every day for six weeks is easier to administer if you place it on an ice pack on your side of the bed instead of leaving it downstairs in the fridge…knowing that the 1:30am dose is going to require only a smidge of energy makes it much easier!

4: You NEED help! You need to take it when it is offered! You need to know that people are there for you. Managing a house from a hospital while also tending to a small child and trying to learn as much as you can is no easy feat!

5: Your other children will survive, but dividing and conquering is helpful! As hard as it is to leave, it is best for everyone if you split the duties between both parents! Trying to keep some sort of normalcy helps EVERYONE!

6: It isn’t so bad to think about the worst case senario! Sometimes a big scare about what might be wrong will help you take in what has to happen. Who would have known I would be so thankful to have my child put under and have his leg cut open! Better than what could have been for sure!

7: Be thankful, always always always be thankful! Life is hard, but it is good, something is ALWAYS good! It is hard, and crazy and scary, but it is always good

A life…

In our life, in our little home, in our everyday, I never thought we would be dealing with so much at the same time! It is an odd mix of fear, and stress, thankfulness, and peace. It is strange to think about all that we are and what we will be and to remember that none of it, absolutely none of it is under control! Here are a ton of pictures that I want to remember

This is the first day, the day we realized that something wasn’t quite right. If I had known then what I know now…I wouldn’t have been so happy that our ER visit only lasted 40minutes! But he sure was happy to have that otter pop!

Here is our second ER visit, this one was 8 hours! Our little man was a trooper and we truly thought that things were going to get better after this visit!
We, thankfully, made a quick trip to the pumpkin patch and got a pumpkin and carved it! Glad we did this when we did! Because the next day Henry had a follow up appointment at Orthopedics, we were told to go right to the ER from there. And from that appointment at the ER we were admitted to the hospital. That ER visit was interesting, not the longest visit we had but surely the most uncomfortable for Henry. He had his knee tapped, we decided not to sedate him, instead they gave him some medazle (no idea how you spell that!) to relax him kinda like valume would do. Then he sat in my lap and they stuck a big old needle into his knee and drew out some of the fluid. It wasn’t comfortable for him, and he wasn’t happy, but a minute later he was high as a kite and quite a crowd pleaser. Sadly, that tap is why we were admitted to the hospital. His fluid wasn’t normal.

That night we started the wonderful world of hospital life. He was monitored every two hours, he was put on antibiotics. At 7am they decided to do an MRI later that day. They don’t know why he has the fluid in his leg, they don’t see any bacteria all they know is that there is something going on in there. The MRI will be followed immediately by surgery to clean out his joint. The MRI will determine if the infection that they suspect has gotten into his bones (thankfully that wasn’t the case!). At this point Henry hasn’t eaten or drank anything since Sunday nights dinner and it is now Tuesday!! His MRI/Surgery will be at 1:45pm and he can’t eat till after he comes to! He is getting irritated, but overall he is still happy and silly and adorable! It is amazing, well not really, how much this community rely’s on outward signs of pain to determine what is wrong or how serious it is. I reckon the reason that it took so long to get anything done is because they didn’t want to believe there was anything wrong with him because he was so stinking happy and cute! Hahahaha, you have no idea how much I heard a kid with this issue doesn’t act like this! But he did and that is just who he is!

Henry got back to us 4:00pm

He was sleepy, and so so happy to be back with us! He had his leg wrapped and a tube and heplock. The fluid was plentilful! But it was out of his leg and not inside!!

His recovery was wonderfully quick! By the next morning he was pulling himself up, and wanting to get moving!! Henry is a tough cookie! He is so very loved and the well wished and gifts and love were so very felt in our little room! We got out of that hospital TWO days early! Henry still wasn’t walking but he was wanting too!! We came home with scheduled doctors appointments once a week for the next six weeks. He will have blood work at each appointment. We also have to see a few different specialist over the next month to try and figure out what is wrong with him. His medication is every 6 hours on the dot! He can’t let the medication get out of his system, so we can’t be late! His medication is expensive and not covered by our insurance, but it still better than being in the hospital! It is crazy, it is all so so crazy, but in the end I am so thankful to be home, and I know that he is too!!

Yesterdays apt went well. They don’t know what is wrong with Henry. He doesn’t quite fit into any of the issues he might have. He has begun to adapt to his SEVEN days of not walking and has begun this little hobble thing, but he gets frustrated/tired/sore after about 1/2 hour of movin around. They want us to wait till Monday till we do further testing. I have an apt for Monday at 11:30am. …But today I am sad, I am frustrated, my body feels off…I have so much sadness for people who have to deal with very very sick babies! I don’t know how they do this! It is so hard and I know my baby will be fine…but it must be so hard for people who don’t know! My heart aches for them.

I emailed the Dr and asked if we could change Henry’s apt to some time this week, I just don’t want to wait thru the weekend. We will see.

So, this is going to be about as random as random gets! And it is going to be random because my life right now is in complete chaos, so my blog should be as well

first…My hair. (gotta love how much I can’t take a picture of me). I have now been shampoo free since May, and I LOVE it! It is so cheap, and quick, and my scalp is so happy! I do need a trim, but I am trying to grow it super long and know I should cut it but don’t want to I also am getting pretty good and grey at the temples but once again, I am just going to go with it for now. I have upped my Baking Soda mix to 1.5T to 8oz water and am using infusium23 leave in treatment on my ends only (I use a spray bottle after I towel dry and just shoot the ends) I go about three days between washes and am really happy with it! My hair is way way less frizzy, and has heaps of body (which my mom says is because I am preggers, but I can hope it is going to stay!)So, here is the official update…Henry woke up on Thursday at 1:30pm from his nap, he was crying (my kids don’t cry when they wake up) So I held him, and he fussed and I brought him downstairs and gave him a snack on the couch and he fussed. When I changed his diaper he lost it, and then I tried to stand him up and he just collapsed. He fussed and wouldn’t move. Five hours later he was more fussy and it was obvious his right leg was not working. Our first trip to the ER! In and out, xray showed everything was fine. Dr the next day, lets watch it. If it isn’t getting better on Monday lets get an ultrasound. Friday he wouldn’t walk, but he was back to his normal happy self! Saturday, still no walking, no crawling, wouldn’t even roll over…but Happy as a clam! So, second ER visit. This time we took him to Childrens, good idea! EIGHT hours later we went home. His lab works shows there is no viral infection but they are not sure what is wrong, the xray shows there is fluid build up in his knee. We have moved from thinking it is his hip to now thinking knee or maybe foot. Sunday, Henry is fussy and uncomfortable still not moving. Monday…back to the ER. His knee still has fluid, his labs are looking better! But he still won’t walk-at all! He will crawl a little, but not much. He has stopped cruzing on the furniture, and sleep isn’t quite as peaceful ;( Today we go in to see an orthopedist. Maybe they will have some answers. As of the ER visit yesterday, he won’t walk for between a week and two weeks…but we don’t know why This is the pits!

Oh, and thru all of this lets not forget that I am growing a baby as well!! And it is getting so big! We had another ultrasound last week! Looking good little one!!! I am anxious to find out what this little monkey is! I have an apt on the 1st, and I secretly hope they can take a peek that day But I doubt it and we will have to wait till either just before or just after Thanksgiving!

When I was pregnant with Cole I was a young flower. Growing gracefully and embracing all that the pregnancy was. Eric and I were carless, we took public transportation, and walking EVERYWHERE! When I was 9 months pregnant I was walking from the bus stop with bags of groceries! This is my young sprite self at 26WEEKS! With Henry my body was happy to be carrying another child, the pregnancy was tough from the go, I was quite ill with Henry. My body gracefully accepted the belly taking on ONE solitary stretch mark exactly two days before we held Henry! This is me at Five months pregnant!so…This is what I know NOW. My body is so excited to be HUGE! It was as if as soon as the HCG was running in my blood that my pelvis and uterus said “Hey, lets get this going!” I fear what is going to happen, hahaha. Because this is me today, in my FOURTH month!

I wonder if this is the pregnancy that will bring on the water retention, the stretch marks, the vains, the heartburn…all of the things that people complain about but that I haven’t really had issues with! EEK! On a positive note…my energy level is awesome! and I don’t feel sick at all!

Please excuse the terrible picture, when Eric gets home I will put up a better one!

I finished the cowl!! I weaved in the ends, and hung it on a hook and took a picture! It is so soft, it is long, it is raspberry! And it will be delivered soon!Thank you MaybeMatilda for the crochet along! I seriously learned a ton…but I don’t know if I learned enough to do it without you ;( I hope so, I really really hope so!!

On another note…I also finished the baby’s first sweater!! One that will be worn home from the hospital!! We had our last frost so late this year that I fear when this baby comes home in early April that it might be freezing! We will see. The final touches on the sweater cannot be finished will we find out if baby three is a boy or a girl! We might find out in Early NOVEMBER! Or we might wait till 20 weeks and find out in Early DECEMBER!! Hahaha, I still wish I was someone who could wait, but…I AM NOT! (side note: the sweater is small! as in if this baby is 10lbs it won’t fit! One of the few reasons that I can make it so small is because I know that they won’t let this baby get nearly that big..oh the joys of medical issues!)

Tuesday…

Today is Tuesday. This morning we got up early. I woke up the boys at 6:40am! Both of them groggy, and I got them dressed. We went downstairs and we had some juice. We laughed and chatted and gave hugs and snuggles. They were excited (Henry didn’t know why but Cole knew), I was more nervous than excited. Nana came and picked us up and we drove in the early morning light. Cole commented that it was getting light. Fall is here, and it is beautiful! We parked and walked up the street, got in the elevator and went to the very familiar 7th floor! And when we got there at 7:15am, we went right in and saw this…Cole was sad to not find out what color it’s eyes are, but he was very sure today that it is a boy (everyday it is different!) and he informed me, and later his dad, that his new baby is brown and pink according to the camera. ( He is way into seeing color these days that I cannot see, very odd!)

That there little monkey is about 12 weeks give or take. That little baby has a heart beat of 174 beats a minute! That little monkey up there makes me quite tired! And we are so thankful for that!!! And soon we will find out if that little baby is another adorable little man or if maybe this time that little one is a girl!! Time will tell

In early April we will meet that baby, hold that baby, kiss that baby, and be so so excited to see what color that babies eyes are!!!!

As for today, I am just thankful that this baby is ok. It was almost this time that we lost a baby between the boys. This week has been tough. It still effects me greatly at times, still scares me, still creates a fear that did not exist before. But, with this ultrasound, I have crossed into a place of peace. Hahaha, for now, my health and all do make this whole pregnancy thing a little more stressful!

So…last winter I was asked by somebody I will not name here, if I could make said person a cowl. Long, wrap around twice, and pink (but a good pink) and I said Sure! Then I started it, and tore it out and started it and tore it out and then started it and put it in a huge pile of stuff I need to finish. Then, a week ago a wonderful little lady started a crochet along and I decided to jump in! I knit, but I don’t crochet. Well, I kinda do. I can do a hat, and I made a crazy looking rabbit one time But I can’t follow a pattern because I don’t know what the heck they are talking about. So, I thought I would finally actually get this scarf done for above said person!! And, so far so good! I really like this yarn! (I promise above said person that it isn’t the color you see in this picture, I just couldn’t capture the goodness quite right!) And, best part..I have to finish it for the crochet along, so it is GOING to be finished very soon!!!

I am learning so much! I hope that I learn enough to do a crocheted edge on this sweater I want to knit hahaha
